Great Weekend for Running

I put in a very nice 10 mile effort today at better than marathon pace.  It was very windy, humid and warm.  I ran with my Garmin 205.  Very nice device that keeps me focused on the pace.  Other than an upcoming 5K, I don’t have any immediate running goals.  I’ve applied for the NYC [...]

Easy Running

It’s getting pretty warm and humid, summer in Texas is not far away.  I had an easy 11 miler today.  I hope to put in another 10-12 miler on some trails.  My foot is still bothering me, but it’s not really a pain.  It’s more of an irritation.  There are a couple of 5Ks coming up.  It will [...]

Simple and Easy

After yesterday’s tough effort and foot hurting, I really took it easy on the road.  I put in a 7.5 mile run.  My foot bothered me for the first mile.  For the rest of the run, I knew it was there, but it was pretty much pain free.  For the rest of the week, I’ll [...]

5K race

My local running running club (BARC) has a challenge going on.  If I run or volunteer at 5 of 6 upcoming runs, we can get some recognition for the effort.  So, I decided to enter a local 5K race today.
It’s been three weeks since the marathon.  And, I thought I was ready to  run a hard 5K.  Since the [...]

Giving Back

I went out Sunday on a very early 5:30 AM 6.5 mile run.  I then went over to Seabrook to give a hand at a local marathon/half-marthon.  It’s much easier to give out water then it is to run the marathon.  My hats off to those who completed the effort!!!

Recovery

The recovery has gone well.  It’s been almost 2 weeks since Little Rock.  I’m a little surprised that some parts still ache a little.  Today, though, was a great run.  I ran 13 miles.  After a little warm-up, I started running marathon pace.   For 13 miles I averaged an 8:57 per mile pace, I’m thrilled.   The Garmin [...]

Recovery

On Monday, I drove home from Little Rock.  It was about a nine hour drive.  My legs were tight.  I was able to get on the Nordic track and workout for about 35 minutes.  On Tuesday, I laced up the running shoes and went out for an easy 5 mile run.  The legs felt great.
I’m [...]

Marathon number 9 is done. It was a warm day for a marathon.  The temps started out at 59F with a lot of sun and finished at 70F.  There was a breeze that I guess helped.  I went to the crash and burn style of marathoning.  It almost worked.  But, the out and back on River [...]
