Unexpected Long Runs

Enormous run today.  Incredibly, I ran a half marathon today in 1:51.  I got out the door at about 5:40AM.  The first 2.5 miles were at an an 8:59 min/mile pace.  I ran from the house down to the ninth grade center.  I met up with the Gulf Coast Running Club.  I ran 7 miles [...]

Lit it rip

I went for it today.  The hamstring and leg have been feeling pretty good.  I saw the Chiropractor yesterday and had another scrapping. I just wanted to test the leg out today.  I decided to run a tempo by feel and not byu pace.  I ran a tempo and averaged 7:55 min/mile for a 28 [...]

I went back to the track tonight.  It was there last week that I hurt my hamstring.  Tonight, however, I did not do a typical track workout.  I did 3X1 mile intervals, but at a nice pace of 8:15 to 8:20 min/mile.  I thought about pushing it down to a sub 8 minute mile, but [...]

Run Filled Weekend

On Sunday, I put in a very easy 8 miler on the trails in Seabrook.  I ran without a watch or the Garmin.  My right leg was tight and hurt some for the first half mile or so.  However, after a little while, it felt OK.  It was nice to not have a watch or [...]

I got out of the house just a little after 6 AM to beat the heat.  After running 2.5 miles, I joined up with the Gulf Coast Running Club.  I ran with them for 7 miles.  And after that, I headed home on a 3 mile stint.  In all, I put in about twelve and [...]

Five and easy

Early morning run today.  The heat and humidity have set in.  At least there was a breeze.  I ran five easy miles today at a pace of 9:20 min/mile.   As far as my hamstring injury goes,  I knew the hamstring was there, but at least it did not really hurt.  Towards the middle to end [...]

Over the last several months, my running has been the best I’ve had in over 5 years.  My official race time in the 5K has improved.  Unofficially, my time in the 10 mile and half marathon distance has improved to 2002 performance levels.  And, for the first time ever, I have a true schedule of [...]

Ouch

I went to the track tonight for a set of 1 mile intervals.  It was hot, just about 90F.  I had a nice warm-up mile of 8:40.  My goal was to get 4 one mile intervals at 7:30 to 7:40 min/mile.  The first interval was at 7:42.  The second interval felt good and I finished [...]

Warm and Easy

I went camping this weekend and Saturday was pretty much an off day.  I got back today at noon and went out for an easy run.  It was pretty warm (80s) with a lot of sun.  I left the Garmin at home.  The run was pretty easy and effortless.  To get an idea of my pace, [...]

Running Fast

My schedule called for a tempo run today.  I also wanted to run a little long today because it will be unlikely that I will run at all tomorrow with the camping trip.  Relatively speaking, this morning was a perfect running day considering it is in the middle of May.  The temps were in the [...]
