Somebody described my running this year as a ”breakthrough”. Other then 1 PR in a distance I never run before, I did not set any personal bests. My 5K time is a solid 2 minutes off my best. I use to run 400meter intervals in the 88 second range, now I can barely do a 400 [...]

Yasso 8s

I ran another set of 8 x 800 meter intervals at the track. I remember reading something a while back called Yasso 8’s. If I remember right, you run 8-800 meter intervals, the pace you maintain should translate to your marathon pace. For the last two weeks, I’ve kept the pace at 3:30. Although I [...]

I ran with BARC this morning. I went out with a couple of the BARC ladies. The first eight miles were a nice 8:25 or so pace. We got to enjoy each other’s company and conversation. The next 7 miles were a different story. Andrea pulled out after a mile. I decided to go out [...]

I ran with the folks from the GCRC. I tagged along with Roxy this morning. After a slow first mile (9:20), the pace quickened to about an eight minute mile. We caught up with Les and the three us kept hammering low 8 to high 7 minute miles. With the weather so warm and humid, [...]

It was a nice and quiet Christmas. Well, my son got a set of drums, but still it was quiet in the “peaceful” sense. As for me, I got two great books on the NYC marathon and the Boston Marathon. I started to thumb through the Boston Marathon one. I’m now scared. I also came [...]
A Night at the Track

With everyone travelling, I was alone at the track tonight. I had a tough workout planned and it would have been nice to have someone to push me. I ran eight 800 meter intervals with 400 meter recoveries. I was near perfect. I ran each of the intervals at 3:31 to 3:32 with the next [...]

Well, it’s the first day of winter and a north wind blew in some cold temperatures. When I got up this morning, it was cool, by the time I got to the trails, it was cold and windy. I ran with a jacket on to stay warm.
It was a nice run with Sean and Sam. [...]

Today is a day that I hate to live in Texas. It was warm and humid this morning. I did get to run with someone new today, and that is always nice. I ran with Lisa who is a BARC member. We got together for a 20 miler today. Running with someone new can be [...]
Building a Pyramid

I got to the track tonight for an interval. Julie and I decided upon a pyramid of 200-400-800-1200-800-400-200. We ran great. We pushed each other pretty hard and hit or beat our goal time on each of the intervals. It was a decent night for running. Very humid and foggy, but it was pretty cool.
I’ll [...]

Today started off great with an easy 5 mile recovery run. No pain, hardly any stiffness, it was a good run.
Tonight was the BARC annual Christmas Party. I was really surprised by the crowd at the party. There must of been 60 or so folks there at Don Julios. It was nice to hang out [...]
