Downtown Venue

I went downtown for a long run.  Well, it wasn’t that long.  We got in a little over 13.5 miles.  The weather was good enough.  It was overcast, breezy with temps in the 50s to maybe 60F.  We started at Memorial Park and made our way downtown along the Allen Parkway trails.  We ran a [...]

Another Solid Week

It may not have been 60 miles, but still it was a very solid 50+ mile week.  For the training week, I managed a terrific 10K race (2nd age group, best 10K in 8 years), a fast paced 14 mile long run, and a solid track workout.  In between, I got in some easy runs.  [...]

Tonight called for three sets of 200, 400, 600, and 800 meter intervals.  It was a little warm, but not bad.  It was very easy to run fast tonight.  Julie from BARC was out there tonight.  And, She was on fire.  I held on as best I could at the end.  Anyway, we nailed the [...]

Long Run

This week’s long run was a roll back to 14 – 16 miles.  I ran with Julie and Lisa today for about 14.3 miles.  It was a gorgeous day.  The temps were in the 40s with sun and some breeze.  We ran from the trails over the Kemah Bridge through Kemah and then back over [...]

I ran in the Gallowap Gallup 10K race in Kemah today.  I have no complaints about today.  Compared with my last 10K in November, I took off a minute.  Another best 10K since 2001.  It was a little warmer then I preferred.  It was in the 60s with some sunshine.  I thought it was going to [...]

Another 60 miles

I put in another 60 mile week!  I went out for a nice and easy 9.5 mile effort this morning.  It was an easy run.  I plan on running in a 10K race tomorrow.  I just wanted to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather.  It was just about 50F when I headed out.  The sun [...]

Sweet Recovery

My recovery runs have improved a lot for this marathon prep.   I ran 12 miles and averaged an 8:30 min/mile pace.  I met up with a couple of folks from BARC at the Seabrook trails.  It was a little foggy and plenty humid.  But, the temperatures were reasonable (high 50s).
Everything felt good.

Today was not the best long run I’ve ever had.  But, it wasn’t the worse.  My hamstring was bothering me some today.  It was not anything too bad, but it was there nagging me almost the whole way.  And, my back started to hurt.  After 15 mile, I was ready to call it a day [...]

Track Workout

I missed running yesterday and with traveling and eatng out, I was just out of sorts running tonight.  I went to the track to run 8X800 meters.  After a good and fast warm-up, I was very uncomfortable with the 800 meter interval.  I was all over the place and just could not nail any of the [...]

I got out to the Seabrook trails this morning for a recovery run.  The regular BARC gang was up at the Southbelt Trails for the weekly run.  I thought I was going to be alone, but there were a couple of other wayward BARCers.  Jeff and Lou were both there at 6:30 AM.  I wound [...]
