Running an Ultra

Well I did it.  I signed up for the Hogs Hunt 50K race on May 16.  I have no idea why I did it though.  I recall mentioning it, and then the idea took on a life of its own.  Suddenly, I felt somewhat obligated to running it.  However, the timing of it is rather [...]

At the Track

I got to the track last night and put in a heck of a good workout.  I followed the BARC plan of a cutback workout of 1600, 1200, 800, 400, and 200 meters.  Mike, Roxy, Virginia, and Julie were out there.  Also, I ran into Chuck and Bob from the GCRC.   Once again, I ran [...]

Busted a long one

I ran a little over 14 miles today.  No pain, legs were just a little tired, but not bad.  I met with BARC at the Seabrook Trails.  We threw in a trip over the Kemah Bridge, and I was able to charge up it.
I’m ready for the 50K!

I got up early to run with the GCRC.  There weren’t too many folks out there to run with.  Hayden ran the first couple of miles and then I was off on my own.  I started to feel really good and laid into the last three miles at just under an 8 min/mile pace.  It was [...]

Back to Easy Runs

Since Boston, I’ve put in two easy runs and one day of cross training.  Regarding the runs, the one on Wednesday was a little tough.  There were a lot of different pains in my legs.  Nothing critical, so I took that as a good sign.  By the last mile, I was moving along comfortably.
I got [...]

Boston Marathon

I’m grossly underestimating, but I had a BLAST!  My trip up to Boston was thankfully, uneventful.  I got out before any of the storms hit Houston.  I arrived on time in Boston at 4 in the afternoon.

It was good to have a roommate for the trip.  I had a bunch of tentative plans for [...]

I got out early for a fairly easy 6 mile run.  I ran the last mile quickly, but I had no watch on.  I’ll get in one more five miler early tomorrow before I take off to Boston.  The training and tapering have gone well.  All I have to do now is run it.
The weather [...]

Track Night

I made it to the track last night for a marathon paced 5 kilometer interval.  I’ve been sticking with the BAA marathon training plan.  It’s had some odd-ball track workouts and last night’s plan was no different.  The 5K interval felt so easy.  My goal was to run at about a 7:55 pace.  But with [...]

Twelve easy miles

I got up this morning to run with BARC at the Seabrook Trails.  They had a very nice turn-out this morning.  After running 7 miles on the trails, we then made a loop on the Kemah Bridge.  For the run, I put in twelve miles, I ran the last couple fairly quickly in the 8:10 [...]

I don’t know why some days are so much better than others.  My day started with a very nice marathon paced run.  I ran for the first time in a long time with the GCRC at 5:30AM.  Les ran out with me.  I enjoy running with Les.  He’s a good guy with a lot of [...]
