I don’t know if it’s the weather or if it’s the miles. But, my legs are dead. I went out this morning for a hopeful14 miles. But, I was whopped after about 9 miles. The sun was up and my legs just felt bad. Anyway, I turned around on the trail and packed it in [...]

Long, hot run
Posted in Uncategorized on June 27, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
It was not that long of a run. I ran a little over 11 miles today with the GCRC. I started a little late then the main group. I wound up with an overall pace of 8:20 min/mile. I was also able to hammer out the last two miles at an 8 minute flat place.
It [...]
Three more passes over thee Bridge

It’s not tradition yet, and with the holidays and travel coming up, it may not be a tradtion for awhile. However, myself and few like minded folks made it out the Bridge early this morning for some hill work. My legs are still tired from this week’s track and trail workouts. However, I kept the [...]

I finished my training week at the Jack Brooks trails. Although it was hot, on the trails it did not feel too bad. My legs were tired from yesterday. Sam and I got a little lost at the end and ran an extra couple of miles. But it was all good. For the week, I [...]
Hot Track Night

The heat was on full blast at the track. I’m almost thinking that 6:30PM is too early. We had a great turnout at the track. Some folks ran 400 meter intervals, others were doing 30 second intervals. As for me and a few others, we ran a cut-down workout of a 1600, 1200, 800, 400, [...]

The heat is on!!! For the last 8 months, I’ve been driving down to the Seabrook trails to meet BARC for their Sunday 6:30AM run. With it getting so hot, I decided to leave from my house at 5:45 to meet everyone at the trail at 6:30. The first 12 or so miles were OK. [...]
Old Friends

Well, I met up with some old friends today. I was asked to help mentor the marathon group for the GCRC. They’re a good group of folks. It’s a very diverse group of folks as well. Some of the guys and gals in it are far better than I, however, a number of them are [...]
Simple Enjoyments

I think not racing is best for me. I put way too much stress on myself. The last couple of runs have been pretty high on the enjoyment scale. On Wednesday night, a few of us BARCers went down to Rice University to run with the Bayou City Road Runners (BCRR). And, today was an [...]
Ode to my Hamstring

My hamstring and I have reached a one year milestone. It was one year ago that we had a serious fight with one another. For 47 years, I never gave my hamstring much thought. I never warmed it up much, I never stretched it, I never iced it, and I certainly never foam-rolled it. After [...]
Short Intervals at the Track

Great turnout at the track tonight. We ran 12X200 meters. We were all very fast in those 200s. This was the fastest 200s that I’ve ever run. Almost all of the intervals were less than 45 seconds. I had two at 43 and the last one was at 41 seconds. It turns out that the [...]
