What a Weekend

I’m not sure where to start this blog.  This weekend was just an incredible weekend of running.  I got up early yesterday to run with Lisa.  We agreed on an aggressive long run.  We were going to start out easy for the first few miles, then hammer out some miles in the middle and then [...]

Bridge Running

A few of us got out there early for a run on the bridge.  Most of us did 3 round-trips.  Not running the bridge every week is making the bridge runs fun.  At one point, I was dreading three round-trips.  Today, however, the three trips seemed easy.  I was able to hammer out the last trip [...]

Cut-Down

We got down to the track at our usual time.  Finally, the heat is not that bad at 6:30 in the evening.  In fact, it was almost pleasant.  It was another good turnout at the track.  We ran a cut-down of 1600, 1200, 800, 400, and 200 meters with a final 1200 meter interval.  The [...]

Long Live Rock

The weekend started out with a 14 miler in Clear Lake City and out on the Red Bluff trails.  Fellow BARCer Chintan needed to put in a 20 miler.  The first 10 or so miles were a leisurely 9 minute pace.  We took off some and the last 2 miles were down at an 8 [...]

Running Fast

I was out at the track last night to run 10X400 meters.  Another good turnout of about ten folks.  The weather was ideal.  When we ran, the heavy showers had just passed, but it was still overcast with some light sprinkles.  I surpassed my goal time and pushed the last two intervals into the low [...]

Very Good Running

I got in a very nice run Saturday.  I ran over 16 miles  at an 8:26 pace.  Best part was to run a negative split along the way.  My left calf ached a little along the way, but not too bad.  I kept some very positive images in the run along the way, and it [...]

I got up bright and early and headed to the Kemah Bridge at 5:30AM.  It is tough getting up that early, but it’s worth it.  I get to run when the weather is the coolest, there is little traffic, and it gets the workout out of the way.  Les was the only one to make [...]

Awesome track workout.  My calf is just about 100%.  I was a little worried about tonight’s workout. We ran 14 X 200 meters at about 5K pace and then recovered for 200 meters at marathon pace.  I kept the repeats at about 5K pace and the recovery at marathon pace.  I nailed each one of [...]

Ode to My Calf

I’m deeply sorry to my left calf for the years of neglect.  I’ve spent the last year working on my right hamstring, and have simply ignored my calves.  My hamstring and I have been through counseling, stretch regularly, and I even purcheased my hamstring a foam roller.  As for my calves, I have done very [...]

Aging Sucks

During yesterday’s 17 mile run, my stomach is flip-flopping for the last 5 miles.  My pace slowed to about a 9:10 as I tried to manage it.  Lisa was kind enough to hang with me.  Today, I went out with the GCRC.  My plan was for 12 miles.  I headed out with one of the [...]
