X-Country

After some easy runs last week, I finished off the week running in a cross-country relay race.  The race takes place in downtown Houston along Buffalo Bayou.  Although it’s only a 2 mile leg, it’s a tough one to run.  Lots of ups and downs and the the footing in the grass with tree roots [...]

Thre really is no such thing as an easy track workout.  Tonight was a simple 8X400 meter night.  A cold front is trying to push through.  However, it is stalling.  Hence, it was cooler, but it has been a rainy day.  I pushed some of the intervals at the 90 second area, however, most were [...]

Toughest 10K

I ran a very solid 10K race yesterday.  It was the second Toughest 10K in Houston race.  The race includes two loops on the bridge.  I had my fingers crossed that I could run a PR.  But, it was not to happen.  I missed my PR by 30+ seconds.  However, I took another minute off [...]

800s

Although I know there will still be more warm weather ahead of us, it is so nice to have a little break.  The slightly coooler temperatures and lower humidity made running the 800s seem almost easy.  My goal was to run the 800s in about 3:27.  I just wanted to get a feel for running sub 7 [...]

Long Runs

No complaints about this weekend’s running.  I slept in a little yesterday.  I hit at the road at 7:30AM for almost an 11 miler.  Fairly easy pace, but we humped it in the last two miles and nailed a sub 8 minute/mile in the last mile.  It was overcast.  So although it was plenty humid, [...]

And More Hills

Got up very early and ran the Kemah Bridge this morning with Julie.  It was rainy.  In some ways, I enjoy running in the elements.  The rain kept us cool, and it feels good to combat mother nature.  But, I’m not a big fan of running on a dark highway with slick roads.  Regardless, we [...]

I went up to Arkansas for the holiday weekend.  Some excellent hill running.  I ran a 5K race (Clear Mountain) in North Little Rock.  The race was a good one.  I ran another master’s PR.  I got close to a sub 21 minute, but I fell just a little short.  The good news was that [...]

Loving the Track

Tonight was a fairly simple and easy track night.  It was a 2X(800, 600, 400) with 400 recoveries.  The repeats were suppose to be at 5K pace.  But, with Lisa out there, we pushed each other down to a mile/sub-mile pace.  It was some of the best 400s and 800s in a long while.  The [...]
