2011 – Moving On
Another year of running and life is behind me. A grandson, a daughter in college, and a son that is soon to get his driver’s license, where has the time gone? And where have the miles gone? In 2011, I ran just over 2600 miles. My Dad did not even drive his car that many miles in a year. There were some high marks like running over 70 miles in a week ,50 of those miles were run in a single day. I ran with Julie some 45 times in 2011, I even ran with Chris Robbins 11 times, albeit just a mile or so with him. I had breakfast three times at Oil Tanking. I only talked about my hamstring twice in 2011, which is way down from 17 times in 2010. 23 times in 2011, I said that I was cold 14 times in 2011; amazingly, I only used the word “hot” 6 times. I must be acclimated to Houston. My lifetime mileage is rapidly approaching 40,000 miles. I have over 120 bibs in my shoe box and Captain Krunch Treasure Chest. Lots of medals and even a few age group awards. My most treasured memories are those that came along the road of life.
2011 had a number of running accomplishments. I ran the 50 miler. Yes, I can say now that I’m a true Ultra-marathoner. And, I ran a qualifying time for the NYC Marathon. However, it looks like I may have lost my racing gear. All my race times through the year were off by a a minute or more. But, my hamstring really stayed healthy this year. I did not miss any runs because of injuries. Maybe the slower times are just a self-preservation auto-response from my body.
My blogging is way down from a year ago. I’m busy with BARC stuff that consumes time, work has been very hectic, and there are many other excuses. Perhaps 2012 will bring a resurgence in running and blogging
