Tonight was my last track workout before Boston.  The plan called for 3 sets of 600, 600, and 800 meters at 5K pace.  Although I didn’t feel super great, I was able to do the workout without too much effort.  I ran the first 600 meters way too fast.  Otherwise, I was just about perfect [...]

I ran a 14 miler on the Seabrook trails.  Veronica from BARC was the only one out there.  We ran at about an 8:30 pace.   The left knee felt fine.  I was little tired at the end, but not too bad.   The plan for now is to stay positive, start tapering, and keep myself from injury.
I’ll [...]

I ran one last long run before Boston.  The plan was for 18 – 20 miles.  I wound up with 18 miles.  A group of us got together to run up in Baytown.  We threw in 2 loops on the Hartman Bridge.  We did those early on.  I felt very good all the way through [...]

The last three days have all been easy runs.  Wednesday was kind of crazy, and I only got in a 3 mile workout.  But, at least it was something.  Last night I put in a surprise 7 miler.  Gorgeous night, it was a little windy.  But, the humidity and temperature was perfect.  I picked up [...]

After running a hard half marathon, it was a little tough going out to the track tonight.  My body, in particular my hamstring,  was sore from the race.  Very nice turnout at the track.  Julie, Virginia, Sam, and Mike were all there.  I had a pretty hard time keeping up with them  It was great [...]

It was hot at the track.  Mind you, I was not hot, it was just hot.  It was warm, humid and windy.  The training plan called for 8X800 meters.  I was shooting for a goal time in the 3:30s.  I struggled in almost every one.  But, I did keep the time at about 3:35.  The [...]

I got a long run in today.  Nearly 22 miles.  I ran with Julie this morning around the Tanglewood and River Oaks neighboorhoods.  From Kirby and Sheppard, we headed downtown.  Back to Memorial Park for a loop around the park.  We managed an 8:37 overall pace.  Miles 16 to 19 were tough.  The weather warmed up [...]

The Boston Martahon plan called for five to seven 1000 meter intervals tonght at a 10K pace.  Tonight was a workout.  But, I met and exceeded 10K pace on the six intervals that we did.  I met two young ladies at the track tonight.  It’s nothing like a little young blood to bring out the [...]

The sixteen miler today was a little bit of an accident.  I went to meet BARC at 6:30 AM.  I figured something between 12-14 miles would be good.  We started off by going over the Kemah Bridge through Kemah and then Clear Lake Shores.  By the time we were back to the trails, we were [...]

Downtown Venue

I went downtown for a long run.  Well, it wasn’t that long.  We got in a little over 13.5 miles.  The weather was good enough.  It was overcast, breezy with temps in the 50s to maybe 60F.  We started at Memorial Park and made our way downtown along the Allen Parkway trails.  We ran a [...]
