I was up bright and early for a hill workout on the Kemah Bridge. I ran three loops and managed a pace for the 6 mile workout at 8:20 min/mile. Very windy day, the wind almost made feel like I wasn’t moving. My legs felt good the whole way.
I saw the doctor again for my [...]

Two easy runs

After my debacle at the track on Tuesday, it’s been nice to get a couple of easy five mile ”Zen” runs into the schedule. The good news is that my body and mind still feel good. My training partner is having problems with her ITB. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for her. Not only do I hope [...]
Track night

Tonight was my last track workout before Boston. The plan called for 3 sets of 600, 600, and 800 meters at 5K pace. Although I didn’t feel super great, I was able to do the workout without too much effort. I ran the first 600 meters way too fast. Otherwise, I was just about perfect [...]

I ran a 14 miler on the Seabrook trails. Veronica from BARC was the only one out there. We ran at about an 8:30 pace. The left knee felt fine. I was little tired at the end, but not too bad. The plan for now is to stay positive, start tapering, and keep myself from injury.
I’ll [...]
One Last Long One

I ran one last long run before Boston. The plan was for 18 – 20 miles. I wound up with 18 miles. A group of us got together to run up in Baytown. We threw in 2 loops on the Hartman Bridge. We did those early on. I felt very good all the way through [...]
Taking it easy

The last three days have all been easy runs. Wednesday was kind of crazy, and I only got in a 3 mile workout. But, at least it was something. Last night I put in a surprise 7 miler. Gorgeous night, it was a little windy. But, the humidity and temperature was perfect. I picked up [...]

With Angie’s Half Crazy Half Marathon tomorrow, I’ve been enjoying some easy runs the last couple of days. Today, I joined Julie on the trails for an easy 7 miler. No watch, just some easy conversation. The weather made a dramatic change. Yesterday it was warm and humid for my easy five miler. Today, it [...]

After taking a day after TIRR, it was time to get back into training. I did deviate from the schedule. The schedule called for a one mile, two mile, and one mile interval. The weather was warm, and I was still a little tired. I decided on 12X400 meter intervals with a 200 meter recovery. [...]
Another Long Run

The sixteen miler today was a little bit of an accident. I went to meet BARC at 6:30 AM. I figured something between 12-14 miles would be good. We started off by going over the Kemah Bridge through Kemah and then Clear Lake Shores. By the time we were back to the trails, we were [...]
Another Solid Week

It may not have been 60 miles, but still it was a very solid 50+ mile week. For the training week, I managed a terrific 10K race (2nd age group, best 10K in 8 years), a fast paced 14 mile long run, and a solid track workout. In between, I got in some easy runs. [...]
